A man suited up in ninja gear launched a daring nighttime assault on US Special Forces troops at an airfield north of LA, slashing one with a katana and hurling a large rock at another before fleeing. He was later arrested.
Identified as Gino Rivera, 35, the man showed up at the Inyokern Airport – located in the Mojave Desert some 100 miles north of Los Angeles, California – around 1am on September 18, decked out in a ninja get-up and wielding a large sword, the Kern County Sheriff’s office announced on Friday.

“On 9/18/21 at 1:10AM, Ridgecrest Substation deputies responded to Inyokern Airport for an assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies discovered the suspect had assaulted a victim with a sword and thrown a rock through a hangar window, hitting an additional victim in the head,” said the sheriff’s office, which was called in to assist the Ridgecrest PD.

When Ridgecrest deputies arrived at the scene, Rivera reportedly “refused to follow commands and brandished a sword,”the sheriff’s office continued, adding that “non-lethal rounds were deployed but were ineffective.” The suspect then fled, prompting a chase, after which he was tasered and “dropped the sword,” allowing officers to make an arrest.
The bizarre incident – first noted by Stars and Stripes, the Pentagon’s official press organ – was initially outlined in an unconfirmed military incident report that appeared on social media.
The report states that an unnamed army staff sergeant – referred to only as “SSG” in the document – was smoking a cigarette near a hangar at the airfield “when an unknown person wearing full ninja garb, [including] a katana sword,”approached him.

“The person wearing the ninja garb stated ‘Do you know who I am?’ SSG replied ‘No.’ The unknown person then asked ‘Do you know where my family is?’ SSG again stated ‘No,’” the report said.

At this point, the person in ninja garb began to slash at SSG, striking his phone and his knee and leg. SSG immediately began running through the parking lot trying to evade the unknown person. SSG jumped the fence and entered the [airport’s administrative] building.

The staff sergeant, along with another unnamed army captain, then locked all doors into the building and called 911 – all as the ‘ninja’ assailant “was kicking and punching doors and windows.”

After a brief while, the man was said to have left, but returned a few minutes later carrying a “l(fā)arge block of asphalt,” which he proceeded to hurl “through the window of the admin building,” striking the army captain “in the head,” as the sheriff’s office would later reveal.

Fortunately, the staff sergeant and captain were able to return to duty soon after the attack, sustaining only minor injuries, though both required stitches, the incident report said.

Both soldiers belong to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) – dubbed “Night Stalkers” due to their “proficiency in nighttime operations,” according to the US Special Operations Command.

A bulletin from the Ridgecrest PD dated September 18 also appears to make mention of the incident, reporting a call about a “male [subject] in a ninja costume... with a sword” who was spotted at the airfield’s parking lot, and that there was “at least one victim” at the scene.

The same bulletin noted that about 20 minutes later, officers received another call about individuals “hunkered down in a hanger wondering where help is,” but added that the call was “referred to [another] agency,” presumably referring to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Rivera, who was arrested after fleeing the airfield, now faces a litany of charges, including attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a weapon, brandishing a weapon with the intent to resist or prevent an arrest, vandalism and obstructing a peace officer in the discharge of their duties. His motive remains a mystery.

Well, he's a ninja. You don't see them until it's to late.
One guy in pyjamas and US special forces are all "pretend we're not home and call the cops!"

Real ninja would have used a bow
Heavily romanticized, but I like it.
I suspect a real ninja, probably would have just snuck in at dark and ruined the place with explosives.
If he were planning a rescue, I suppose he wouldn't attack anyone at all, he'd take a covert recon team.
He also wouldn't go face to face like this guy did. Sounds more Bushido, Ronin specifically, going "rogue" on his own.
A ninja wouldn't have been running around an enemy camp alone, throwing stars and knives about like a superhero.
Shinobi weren't the classy, elite warriors they're pictured to be. They were dirty, dishonourable and cowardly.
I disagree. I think you may have a skewed view of them. You are entitled to your opinion, but allow me to retort/clarify. As far as solo missions, many of them did. And yes they were elite in that nobody else could do what they did at the time. Cowardly? No. It took a set of stones to do some of the things they did. Severely dangerous circumstances where they were deep in enemy territory. Often in disguise, as a peasant, as a nobleman, whatever got them close to their target or obxtive. Yes a lot of their dealings were underhanded, as with all spies. A knife in the back from the shadows, a poisoned cup, a fire set as you slept. The only ones they were seen as cowardly by, were the Samurai. Because they were so blinded by total honour and duty, face your enemy openly and front on to the death. The Ninja were not bound by such constraints. That does not mean they were bad people. They were smart. Who is bad in war times anyway? This was Feudal Japan. Much blood was spilled across the entire land for years and years...
Wrong. All received martial training but some were more adept and specialist than others. There were plenty of Ninja who were elite warriors and served as personal bodyguards to the Shogun. Hattori Hanzo was just such a historical figure, he was unmatched in the art of Yari (spear). If you wish to continue this debate I shall continue to prove you wrong...

We need a whole battalion of that guy to swarm washington
Ninja in numbers are a clan. Different clans can unite to destroy a common enemy but to have a battalion worth is not realistic. There are simply not enough authentic Ninja in the world, who are worthy enough to form a group that size. A battalion is 1000

One would think Special Ops soldiers would be able to disarm and/or incapacitate any assailant not armed with a firearm and keeping them at some distance.
Special forces are called such because they have a special training for specific skills and roles. Disarming even a halfway competent swordsman without a spear or a firearm is nigh impossible. And the US disarmed their troops decades ago, they don't trust the enlisted not to stage an insurrection when given illegal orders.
From what I've read, a Russian Special Ops soldier during training must kill a horse with bare teeth (rip its throat out) to prove he can kill with teeth, if needed. Are the American Special Ops soldiers that much different?
They're probably just as good, but the crucial factor is that the assailant was armed with a sword, nothing short of a lethal firearm or a polearm from medi times will allow even the best warrior ever to live take on one. They may seem archaic to modern culture but there is a reason they remained in use in some form for three Thousand years. A 100 men at arms could take on 100to1 odds against opponents not equally armed and trained, why do you think revolutions only became common after firearms. Wasn't for nothing Mr Colt called them the great equalizers.
Stop pushing out police propaganda. You can disarm a sword. Sissification and cowardice is only appropriate for working class cowards like police and the middle class. Keep your sissy shit away from the military.

This is not in defense of those that were attacked. However, one must remember that ever since Willum Jefferson Clownton's command, American military are not allowed to be armed, while on base.
That's how that moslems, squealing alley-hoo-ackburrrrr, was able to murder so many, including pregnant women, at Fort Hood. And, how negro moslems were able to kill a group of recruiters.
AR-15's are inconvenient at the mess room table. Officers eat in another room, and I suppose some officers carry a sidearm/pistol.
Muslim colonel Hassan shot up a mess hall in Texas.
ess hall. The mess hall massacre must have been a different Muslim POS soldier.
Not in defense of "Willum Jefferson Clownton", but it was Deputy Secretary of Defense Donald Atwood who signed Directive 5210.56. That occurred in Feb. 1992 when Bush 41 occupied the WH.
If I am not mistaken, 190-14 issued by the Department of the Army (not via executive order) in March 1993, just two months after President Clinton assumed office.
The Directive (5210.56) had never been implemented. It was executed by William J. Lynn III, Deputy Secretary of Defense (NOT Atwood), and was to take effect when officially published on the DOD Issuance website. However, it never was.
Would they have used "non-lethal rounds" and a taser If he'd been black ?
He was literally ALL BLACK. BECAUSE HE WAS DRESSED AS A NINJA.
Duh. Wearing black doesn't change your skin color.
Now ninjas are cutting down American troops in the USA itself.

Proficiency in nighttime operations?! Hardly, in this case.
Haha… this is so funny. First the American military had to retreat from losing to sandal wearing Taliban, now US special forces “Nightstalkers” got whacked by a delusional cosplayer in a secured military airfield… It seems that anyone will be able to beat American military anywhere, even their military bases are not safe for them! Pathetic really.

The Americans are black ruled.
It will turn into South Africa pretty soon.
They threw their genetics to the wind.
And relished in becoming obsolete.
They wave their flag of perversions, more than they do the flag of their own nation.
That should tell you something.
They went past the point on no return.
Long ago.
Special Ops run away. This is what happens when your military is run by homosexual pedophiles.

The American military is just black rapists.
Ask Vietnam.
If The Suspect Was Black They Would Have Used The Word "Neutralized"............!!!!!!
Another embarrassing moment for us military . What if that had been a real invasion??? Locked the doors and called mommy?!?!?
Why were non lethal rounds used?
The suspect was a minority POC
