Russian engines have a shorter life so they need to be overhauled more often, that adds up to the cost. Plus you need to change the engines a few times throughout the lifespan of the airfrx. That's why Russian aircraft are much cheaper. But in the long run they aren't really because of the new engine costs. Still initial costs are lower and that's the selling point. if you are gonna fight the ww3 and don't expect planes to survive for long, that design philosophy makes sense. When they were first designed components were chosen for even non specialized conscxt mechanics could handle them. However tech develops and that's no longer possible, thus cheaper maintanence may no longer be the case.

F-16 is better than Su-57… it exists as more than a prototype. Can't speak for the Su-35 but the F-16 has been upgraded over a dozen times since the 70s, and can carry the AiM-120, which can down an enemy plane from 100km without the enemy getting a launch warning.
