Mushrooms are delicious and certainly can be part of a main meal, a topping, or the main item itself. However, it is important to be able to recognize when a mushroom is poisonous. Remember, all mushrooms are edible. But some mushrooms are only edible once.

When I was a kid growing up in Michigan, I used to go mushroom picking with my grandfather right after it rained, we would come home with large paper grocery bags full of them. My grandmother would clean them because they would be gritty with sand if you didn’t, and we would fry them with butter after cleaning them. They we so good, we would eat a whole pan of them, by themselves, before using them in other meals. Good times !!!
