In America the bills shows up before the doctor does

@elam
and goes to collections before first regular bill is sent

@uRaSk33tSta1n
I had that happen once. They refused to let me pay anything that day and a little over month later got a collection notice. That ER visit ended up being free since they denied payment and no bill sent

@elam
it's very common to get the bill from collections first here. I used to pay the bills as soon as they come but now realize it often takes my insurance a year to pay

@uRaSk33tSta1n

In Canada, your broken bone re-attach itself before any doctor shows up.

@Josh
In Canada i waited maybe 2hrs with a broken collar bone b4 having all x rays done, doctor saw me, put my arm in a sling and left all under 4hrs.

@CaseyAnthonyDaycare
That's amazing. I waited 12 hours after a wreck, pelvis broken in 5 places, before i saw a dr (Ontario)

@Josh
after a wreck like that with pelvis pain etc ur almost immediately taken to imaging to see how bad it is, if theres anything internal that needs immediate attention etc

@Josh
after imaging if it doesn't need immediate surgery you will wait until the next slot is open and go.

@Josh
4hrs to go into the hospital, get all the tests done, get checked up on, have doctors assess what needs to be done then leave. It's the same in the USA except u don't have to spend 20grand.

@Josh

Well i waited 12 hours before a dr came in and ordered imaging. 10/10 pain, can't recommend

Where in Canada do you live? It must be nice there. Ontario doesn't have enough hospitals or doctors for critical patients, let alone general patients.

been to hospitals in both cities and never experienced extremely long waits.

@nomnomz
I've worked at Hamilton general in ER. About a decade ago your experience was definitely possible. Nowadays the wait times have increased exponentially. Even a non-visible trauma patient, such as those with a stroke, are "set aside" and have to "wait their turn".
I'm glad you got treated in record time but just know that more than 90% of Ontario's population have experienced otherwise.

@Breanna
I'm in Canada and have seen broken bones be dealt with in under an hour at a minor emergency clinic. I assume it varies a lot based on province

@hbrhdifiwn866372
Not to mention I waited 24 with a broken leg and bone fragments ripping apart my knee cartilage hours before I was taken to surgery

@whiskey
how about in Canada Saskatoon saskatchewan drove 4 hours to get there 8 hours in emergency with brocken collar bone to be told to go home waited 10 days to be called back to fix no joke

@whiskey
they said they didn't have a doctor to fix a collar bone

@Josh

I'm in Canada and just to get triaged took 4 hours, then a 24 hour wait before they called your name, then another 4 hour wait to see the doc. This was last weekend.

Canada’s health system is a joke. Try to wait any emergency at any hospitals in Toronto. Most of young doctors don’t have any clinical experience.

@BekOka
Same under an hour for my broken leg to be frayed, cast and out.

@1LoudST
Weird, my girlfriend broke her arm, we sat in the hospital in Windsor for 5hr before leaving, driving to Detroit, getting it set in a cast in 2hr and then drove back home over the bridge.
